Come visit..

I've moved to a new site!

www.vanessa-paris.com/blog

It's still a little 'under construction', I have to add a few things here and there - it's like a foreign language to me and what would take a 15yo ten minutes, takes me an hour and a half...

The first computer I used was in Year 10 at High School - a brand new Apple IIe - it took 6 weeks for me to write a 'hello program' which was basically 'Hi Vanessa!' in green letters repeating and wrapping around the black screen.

So I feel pretty cool making this site on my own (with the help of mega-photography-guru Beki Tillotson who rescued me when it all went downhill (Thank you!)

Soon, I'll put up a better About Me page and even some Pricing...at some stage.

Each week I'll blog a:

Cool photographer
Australian food product
Building in Albury
Local Identity

I hope you continue to stop by and enjoying coming back:)

Three

3 flowers in remembrance.

Of a beautiful {impossibly beautiful} little girl.

And her extraordinary Mummy who has kept the memory of darling Ava, shining oh-so-bright.

The moment it turned February.

I thought,

How each day for the past 3 years this sweet woman has drawn breath and put one foot in front of the other having survived my worst nightmare. Every parents.

Yet, she has given so much to so many and continues to do so.

I will be forever grateful for all that Sheye has shared.

{My blog and my images would only be in my imagination}

Please light a candle for Ava here

Her light shines bright {forever-more}

38

38 degrees again today...just over 100F.

Not too hot to wear a cool beanie apparently..

You know what I love seeing?

American groceries.

I love Bakerella's blog and other cool cooking sites that sometimes show the packaging of their ingredients.

I think for one day each week I'll show some photos of our ordinary Australian groceries.

(Almost as bad as the local buildings, I'm sure, but it's something that interests me and hopefully, it might interest you too:)

Thank you to everyone who stops by for a look. I've only ever done this blog as a journal, a keepsake, as something to remember these days.

Anything else, comments, even just stopping by quickly to take a look, is an added, delightful bonus:)

Post Office, Dean Street, Albury

I love this building on our main street.

It was built in 1875 in the Victorian Free Classical Style.

I'm quite sure it is heritage listed or at least of historical significance.

I found the old photo on Google Images and took the newer photo when my brother came to visit (that's him on the left:)

It probably sounds a little unexciting, but I plan on taking photos from around my town. I absolutely love seeing photos of Albury from the early 70s, I just sit and stare and smile and remember how our town looked when I was a child.

I love the cars from that era, the clothes, the shops, the packaging on food, signs, anything and everything that takes me back to that time.

Hopefully, my children will feel something similar and will enjoy these photos in years to come.

The best decision..

I almost cancelled the appointment.

I've been sick since Saturday.

Dizzy, hot, dizzy, ringing ears, dizzy, major headache etc.

I wound up in hospital, I felt that dreadful.

Blood tests showed nothing really, a mild infection.

All week I've lay in bed, getting up for half hour spurts to clean and cook and then straight back to bed.

I've taken medications just to make me sleep so I'm not dizzy for those 8 hours of the day.

I couldn't see my regular Doctor until Feb 13th.

So I called someone else.

I had no idea who they were, male or female, young or old, it didn't matter.

At 4.30 I was about to cancel.

I needed to lie down and didn't really want to go. I knew what they'd do, give me more tablets and tell me to go home and rest.

I was wrong (yes Tino, I said it!)

This kind lady told me exactly where I hurt, pin-pointing the exact spots on my head, neck and back.

She used a device which sounded much like a stapler.

And crunched my neck until I thought my head might roll off.

I'm better.

I burst into tears in her office.

And thanked her and wiped my face on my shirt.

She knew when I walked in what was wrong, my neck wasn't right and 'all i did was put it right'.

I keep on turning my head, it feels like my neck's been oiled, like the Tin-man from the Wizard of Oz!

I am so, so, so grateful to this wonderful lady and her healing hands,

{I'm sending this photo as a Thank You}

The Washing

I've had to abandon any attempts at catching up on the laundry today.

Jayden has found a comfy home amongst the clean clothes....including a black t-shirt which is now covered in fur.

(It's not mine:)

I'll wait until he wakes up and then tackle the never-ending mountain that is My Washing.
